Objective: Explore the different colors, sizes, and shapes of apples by building an apple farmer’s stand with play dough.
Materials:
- “Apple Farmer Annie” written by Monica Wellington
- Play dough
- Small buckets, baskets, or bowls for sorting
- Cardboard, craft sticks, and blocks
Teaching Strategy:
Read “Apple Farmer Annie” by Monica Wellington or watch a video read aloud of the book.
Discuss the different types of apples farmers grow in an orchard. What type of apple is your favorite?
Use play dough to design and build a variety of apples and apple treats. Sort the play dough apples into different small containers or baskets.
Build a farmer’s stand for your apples using cardboard, craft sticks, and blocks.
