You are here: Home / 5 Day STEAM Challenge: Plants / Day 5: What To Do Next

Use your leftover materials to conduct a review with your students plus create a new creative space to play! Plus, don’t miss one of the most important things you can do that often gets overlooked!

How to Create a Dinosaur (or Fairy or Adventureland) Container Garden

dino world 2

Materials:

  • Garden container with holes at the bottom
  • Dirt
  • Flowers
  • Grass
  • Rocks
  • Sticks or other Nature Items
  • Plastic Dinosaurs of Figurines

Step 1: Fill your container with a layer of rocks at the bottom and then add dirt.

Step 2: Plant your flowers or grass. Let the children be involved and help design their garden.

Step 3: Design different spaces in your garden with extra rocks, sticks and any other nature items.

Step 4: Add your plastic figurines and play!

While you are building your container garden, use this time to review with your students what you have learned about plants earlier in the week.

Make Time for Reflection!

Making time for reflection as the teacher is one of the most important steps but often overlooked steps in helping your students progress in their learning.

It doesn’t have to take long but making a few quick notes can help plan future STEAM-themes that not only further your student’s learning but also keeps them engaged and interested.

5 Questions for Reflection:

  1. What worked well?
  2. What did not work or could have been more effective?
  3. What are some ideas for next time?
  4. What are the resources you used?
  5. Where can we go from here?
